Taurus is an earth sign, it’s ruled by Venus (the planet of beauty and love). Grounded and sensual - Taurus loves earthly pleasures. The symbol for Taurus is The Bull due to its associations with strength, fertility and stability.
Taurus Season is when we celebrate Beltane (1st May) - the Pagan festival which heralds the start of summer. This is a time when the world is springing into life. It’s a time for celebration and rituals - gathering around a fire, dancing around the May Pole, tree dressing and planting seeds.
On the yoga mat, it’s a time to embrace mindful grounded practices which lead us back to a state of embodied presence. Work with botanicals such as rose, jasmine and hibiscus and use essential oils and props to enhance your practice.
1st May - Full Moon in Scorpio (Flower Moon)
The Full Moon in Scorpio is a Full Moon that requires work from us. It demands emotional awareness, deep soul searching and time for introspection. It is the preparatory work we do to unburden ourselves so that when the New Moon in Taurus arrives we are moving forwards from a place of heart centred wisdom. This is the Moon that invites us to shed our old skin and be reborn into the world in a new way.

Journal Prompt: What unnecessary baggage am I still holding on to? How can I lighten my load and liberate myself?
Ritual: Dig a hole in the ground and bury one object that represents an era of your life you are ready to release. When you are done, sprinkle petals over the earth.
16th May - New Moon in Taurus
This New Moon in Taurus offers a moment of quiet clarity as the Moon rides with Mercury - the planet of communication. There is an opportunity to find the words to speak your desires into being. It’s a New Moon for heartfelt interactions and social gatherings with opportunities for healing by being direct about our own needs.

On the yoga mat: As this New Moon travels with Mercury (planet of communication) and Taurus rules the throat this New Moon requires a combination of traditional grounding and vocal expression. Chant the mantra LAM while in Malasana (Yogi Squat), then shift the energy upwards - in a comfortable seated positions place the left hand on the heart and the right hand on top and chant the mantra YAM, then move to the throat chakra if you can - find a toe squat and chant the mantra HAM. After you have done this, lie down in a long savasana or Restorative Pose. You can then answer the journal prompt questions.
Journal Prompt: What does embodiment mean to me? How can I express myself from a place that feels clear and grounded? What do I need to say to get my material needs met?
Ritual: Anoint yourself with body oil, as you rub the oil into your skin speak out loud what you would like to bring into your life.
Taurus
Happy Birthday dear Taurus, this is your season and it asks you to be open and authentic. For seven years you have had Uranus moving through your sign, disrupting your New Moons and making things a little more unpredictable. Uranus has now shifted into Gemini so you will start to enjoy more stability. Use the Full Moon (1st May) in Scorpio to do the work of shedding the old, the stuck and the stagnant. Once you have transmuted the heavy energy, you’ll be in the mood to make new connections and have some light hearted fun.
On the mat: Work with neck stretches, hip openers and grounding. Celebrate your season with a Kirtan or Cacao Ceremony.
Moonology Card: Out-of-Bounds Moon - Boundaries. Draw up some boundaries and spend time alone to gain clarity on your next move.

This Taurus Season brings out your fun flirty side - most of the time you’re feeling sociable and up for adventure. However, the New Moon in Taurus (16th May) might require some alone time to process thoughts, feelings and intentions. The Full Moon in Scorpio (1st May) is a time for a health check-in and perhaps a moment to review and refresh your schedule. With Uranus (planet of rebellion and surprises) entering your sign for a seven year stay, there’s an emphasis on staying open to new possibilities.
On the mat: It is crucial to develop a grounding practice at this time - seated meditation, seated forward folds, seated twists - will all support you as Uranus moves through your sign. This is also a month to have fun, find joy in your practice and connect with your community.

It’s a time to release inhibitions and connect to your sense of joy. The New Moon in Taurus (1st May) invites you to call in a supportive community that will encourage your development and self expression. Jupiter is still moving through your sign - inviting you to be more authentically yourself than you’ve ever been.
On the mat: Bring creativity and flow into your practice by working with the element of Water and the Sacral Chakra (Svadhistana). Work with hip openers, fluid sequences of movements and playful sequencing. Wear the colour orange.

This Taurus Season might bring changes on the home front, especially around the time of the Full Moon (1st May). You are in the process of out-growing something and there is a shedding process taking place. It might be as simple as taking some old clothes to the charity shop or it could be a more profound shift. The New Moon (16th May) puts your career in the spotlight - it’s an opportunity to ask for more of what you want.
On the mat: As career is highlighted this month, work on themes of leadership and confidence by working with Manipura Chakra (Solar Plexus) this will connect you to your power, courage and self-belief so that you can make clear and confident moves. You can work with this energy point through twists, strength work and by wearing the colour yellow.
Moonology Card: Moon Mastery - The Law of Attraction. Believe your ability to call in what you need. You are more powerful than you realise.
Virgo
As the Sun is in a fellow Earth sign you should be feeling more like yourself than you have for a while. Enjoy the relative calm and stability of this Taurus season, as you have probably been craving this for a long time. Take time to pause and savour the tempo shift. Let the Full Moon in Scorpio release you from any blocks around communication and use the New Moon in Taurus to amplify your voice and call in new expansive experiences.

Money is on your mind this Taurus season. You are thinking about how you can become more stable and build your resources. As Venus rules your chart and it also rules Taurus, this month, stability can be found by doing more of what you love - rather than pushing yourself harder, lean into tenderness with yourself and others.
On the mat: Make your practice an act of self care and self love. Opt for poses that make you feel safe and held - long hold restorative Child’s Pose with bolsters or a Half Frog combined with Sphinx heart opener.

Scorpio
Taurus season is an important moment to reflect as the Full Moon falls in your sign and the Full Moon asks you to take a long hard look at yourself and decide what needs to change. It might simply be that you suddenly feel compelled to change your appearance in some way or you may feel compelled to completely end something. The New Moon gives you a fresh start - use it intentionally.
On the mat: Think about what release means to you and how you can find a sense of that on the mat. Perhaps this means holding poses for longer or it might mean using your breath to let go of tension. Sigh loudly and often.

Chance encounters with important individuals may shape the course of your destiny over this period, so pay attention to people who enter your life suddenly. The Scorpio Full Moon is a time to rest deeply, while the New Moon in Taurus invites you to pay attention to your daily routines and start some new healthy habits.
On the mat: Try to go inwards and ground yourself - particularly around the time of the Full Moon. Downward facing Savasana (Savasana lying on your belly) is a great pose to help you move the current energies. Around the New Moon try Thread the Needle to bring mobility into the mid back and connect to the throat chakra whilst remaining grounded and connected to the Earth.
Moonology Card: Moonset -Releasing. Sometimes you have put your trust in the great cosmic plan. Rather than trying to shape the course of your destiny, let go and trust the process.
Capricorn
Taurus is a fellow Earth sign so the change of energy since last month's action packed Aries season is sure to bring you welcome respite. However, you are now entering an era when there will be an element of disruption to your daily routines and habits. As long as you remain deeply grounded this will bring excitement and hopefully spice things up a little.The Full Moon will ask you to re-evaluate your alliances to certain groups and friendships whilst the New Moon is an invitation to have fun and be creative.
On the mat: Work with techniques to calm the nervous system such as extended exhalation breathing and bee breath. Find deep squats and long holds in Uppavista Konasana (straddle).

Aquarius
The Full Moon is bringing in changes on the work front, it’s asking you to let go of people and places you have outgrown. It also might be a moment to think about what success and stability look like to you. You’re on a journey of evolution and it’s a long one so think about making choices that sustain you long-term. The New Moon gives you a moment to manifest more of what you want on the home front.
On the mat: Poses that build strength and help you tap into your innate power will sustain you this Taurus season. Try long holds in plank and plank and spice up your Downdog by turning it into a Dolphin.

Pisces

Aries
Last month was intense, you may have felt like everything was accelerating at an almost unmanageable speed. Taurus season gives you a moment to rest, retreat and regroup. Everything is a state of flux but you are ready for growth and personal development in a way that may even be beyond anything you have ever experienced before. The Full Moon offers you an opportunity for deep metamorphosis and the New Moon offers you an opportunity to manifest wealth and luxury (whatever that means to you).
On the mat: Ground yourself deeply and daily. Find poses that help you to go inwards and offer moments of peace and insight. Try long hold Supta Baddha Konasana (Reclined Butterfly) with bolsters and deep and languorous twists. Practice in the dark if you can.
Moonology Card: Moon Shining - Stay in Integrity. You are being asked to deliver on what you promise. Don’t over-promise but equally don’t undervalue yourself. Keep focused on your chosen path.
